
THE DOMESDAY MAP COLLECTION
A unique archive created by cartographer and historian John Garnons Williams (Fellow of the Royal Geographic Society) these fascinating coloured maps show nearly 10,000 place-names of England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales with their authentic early spellings. The maps of Ireland and Scotland also show nearly 300 family and clan names in their earliest forms.
MAP SPECIFICATION and ADDITIONAL CONTENT
Our Premium, Classic and Standard maps are produced on high quality linen canvas using fade-resistant inks and a selection of appropriate colours for highlighting and defining detail.
Our Fine Art option is hand coloured onto special Colourplan Birch paper supplied by G F Smith of Hull.
Each map is supplied with a black and white Key Map idicating the location and modern English spelling of place names. This can be used to cross-reference the ancient Norman place names to make the maps fully accessible and enjoyable to expert and non-expert alike.
Each map is also supplied with detailed historical and linguistic information.
